We brighten the lives of children who are living with serious or life-limiting illnesses, between the ages of 3-18, across the United Kingdom by granting their wish and supporting them in hospitals and hospices.

Story

Rays of Sunshine is a charity that brightens the lives and offers ongoing support to help seriously ill children and their families up to the age of eighteen. In 2010, my brother Charlie was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. At three years old, Charlie had an unusual upbringing, with Addenbrooke's hospital being his second home and four years of intense chemotherapy. Our worlds turned upside down when Charlie was diagnosed, but ever since he has been incredibly brave and faced treatment head on without any moaning. The charity Rays of Sunshine wanted to uplift Charlie's spirits by granting him a wish to take him away after treatment. Charlie's dream was to swim with Killer whales (due to safety concerns this wasn't possible), instead he was given the opportunity to swim with dolphins at Discovery Cove.

With many thanks to Rays of Sunshine, I would like to raise money so other seriously ill children can have the same opportunities. Having never ran a marathon, I have set myself a challenge to complete the TCS London Marathon in 2024.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. All donations will be sent directly to the charity, meaning its the most efficient way to donate.

We brighten the lives of seriously ill young people by granting wishes and providing ongoing support. Our wishes are as unique as the children themselves and whether a child wants to be a fireman, meet a real-life mermaid or even the Loch Ness Monster, we work hard to make that wish come true.
