Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am raising money for PID UK (Primary Immunodeficiency UK) by walking the distance from my town to Great Ormond Street Hospital, who took care of me from the age of 1 when I was diagnosed with a Common Variable Immune Deficiency, a rare genetic disorder, until the age of 18 when I joined adult care. PID UK aims to support and raise awareness for those dealing with immunodeficiencies, of which there are 350.
I am doing this because lockdown has been tough, and I’ve not kept as fit as I should have, and my health has been pretty difficult over the last few years since being diagnosed with chronic anemia and a bronchiectasis. A lot of charities are extremely popular and do great work, but some charities, such as PID UK, are doing work that largely goes under the radar, like the illnesses themselves.
I will create an Instagram page to track and post my progress with strava screenshots, and will also use this as a way of raising awareness for immunodeficiencies and how people can spot symptoms, as many people go undetected for many years of life due to lack of information and awareness.
Thank you for taking the time and helping in any way you can.
