SToRMS: Implementing Strategies To Reduce Male Suicide.

Story

Hi, thanks for taking time to visit my page.

On the 2nd of April I will be running the Manchester marathon. The marathon is the flattest in the UK which supposedly makes it easier...

I am hoping to raise as much money as I can for the charity STORMS in memory of my friend Dan McAllister. This charity is very important to me and my friends who were devastated to hear the news of Dan's death in May 2015.

STORMS is a charity set up by Dan's family which aims to facilitate discussion around suicide in young males, promote methods of helping  with depression and highlight healthy behaviours to improve mental health.

This is needed because:

-Suicide is the largest cause of death in young males.

-Only 14% of people who commit suicide have been in contact with specialist mental health services.

-Although diagnosed female depression rates are higher in young people, suicide rates are more than 3x higher in males. This is due to them not seeking help.

Any donation will make a huge difference to mental health within young males and would be massively appreciated.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
