Walk the Wall for George · 21 August 2010

George’s Trust is a registered charity that aims to support teenagers and young adults in the Romsey & Winchester area of Hampshire.

Story

"Walk the Wall for George" consists of a trek along the 85 mile length of Hadrian's Wall from Wallsend to Bowness on Solway, between Saturday 21st and Sunday 29th August 2010.

At the same time this is happening, the Romsey Abbey Choir will be singing at Newcastle Cathedral, Hexham Abbey and Carlisle Cathedral, they will join the walkers each day as part of their programme.

George O'Brien was a very fit and healthy 17 year old who loved life. He was a keen sportsman and musician and sang in the Romsey Abbey Choir and was loved by everyone who knew him. George died very suddenly as a result of an acute lymphoblastic lymphoma. The aggressive tumour presented no signs and did not stop George from enjoying his life. George's Trust was formed in his memory and one of the objectives is to raise money  to support Teenagers and Young Adults suffering from cancer.

One of George's wishes was to walk the length of Hadrian's Wall with a group of friends to raise money towards the trearment of cancer, tragically he was never able to achieve his goal.

His family, friends and supporters of George's Trust are going to make sure his wish is granted and walk in his memory.
