Virgin London Marathon 2015 · 26 April 2015 ·

Every two hours, someone in the UK will become paralysed. Globally, it is estimated that 15.4 million people are living with paralysis. At Spinal Research our vision is to create a world where paralysis can be cured, no matter when the injury occurred or where in the world.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So first things first, why the London Marathon I hear you say?

Well besides from the 26 miles worth of pain that is definitely en route, I`m possibly (naively) thinking it may be quite fun! Last year I was in the crowd and watched on as tens of thousands of people, friends and family included, grinned and beared through the pain to cross the finish line whilst raising money and awareness for their chosen charities. I left feeling completely inspired to give it a go myself.

So why Spinal Research?

Well that brings me on to my partner of nearly 10 years Catherine and her Uncle, Nigel Duffin. Nigel tragically died in a road accident whilst cycling on 14th April 2013. For those of you that didn`t have the pleasure of knowing Nigel, he really was one of a kind. A true gentleman who was admired, respected and loved by all who knew him.

Had Nigel have survived his spinal injuries, he would have undoubtedly required support from Spinal Research. They are the UK's leading charity in funding medical research around the world to develop reliable treatments for paralysis caused by back or neck injuries. The money I raise will go towards this wonderful charity and attempt to make a real difference to the people and their families who survive accidents similar to Nigel's.

Thank you again for taking the time to have a read and I would appreciate any donations.
