Story
Save the UK's CharitiesGeneral fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.
As my 2.6 Challenge, I’m going to attempt to feed myself, for the day, with food worth just £2.60.
I’ve chosen DENS, and this challenge in particular, to highlight the challenges faced by those who find themselves homeless, on income support, or dependent on food banks to get by.
I hope it’ll make me keenly aware of how fortunate I’ve been so far to not have to budget my weekly or daily shop (literally) down to the penny - a worry faced by so many in the U.K. and all over the world.
DENS is such a vital service in Dacorum, and carries out astonishing work on a daily basis. I’m so grateful in advance to any of you who, even in these difficult times, are able to donate anything at all - which will go a huge way to ensuring DENS can continue giving some of the most vulnerable people in the borough the help, support and guidance they so desperately need.
You’re all brilliant. And I’m a terrible cook so it’ll be good for a laugh either way.
Thanks again, and look after yourselves out there.
