Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 16th August 2020, I will be taking part in the Prudential RideLondon 46 mile bike ride in support of Corpal.

During my partners pregnancy at 5 1/2 months, my step son was diagnosed with Absent Corpus Collusum. Doctors told her that he would be unable to walk, talk, run, play, eat and would generally have a very poor quality of life. Doctors recommended that it was in her best interest to terminate the pregnancy. My partner decided against this advice and give birth to a brilliant and amazing child.

Riley is now 5 and has defied so many people. Whether is riding a push scooter or copying letters or counting to 10, everyday he is proving everyone wrong and doing things that we never thought were possible for him. He makes me so proud and honored to be part of his life and be with him side by side throughout everything.

Whenever we've gone to the doctors to ask about things related to his condition, we were told 'we don't know how this would affect him' or 'give it time and see what happens'. Agenesis of the Corpus Collosum is a rare condition that affects roughly around 1 in 10000.

I will be raising money for the Corpal charity as the work they do for the families that suffer from this condition and Aicardi Syndrome is vital and helps all the families affected through tough times but also raises awareness for what is a rare condition of which not a lot is known about it.
