Dava Way 50km Ultramarathon · 12 November 2022

The UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, we've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, we provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

Story

19 serving personnel from 39 Engineer Regiment are running the Dava Way 50Km ultra-marathon on 12 Nov 22.  For many, this will be the farthest they have ever run and will be a rewarding, yet physically arduous challenge.  However, after a long 50Km, the physical stress we put our bodies through during this event will eventually end. Unfortunately though, for many Veterans, serving personnel and their families, this is not always the case.  Many experience high levels of enduring stress following traumatic events which can lead to significantly poor mental health; including issues such as anxiety, depression, isolation, loss of identity, PTSD, substance abuse, self-harm and even suicide. That is why we are raising funds and awareness for Combat Stress; a charity very close our to our hearts and those of the wider military community.  We want every Veteran, serving personnel and their families to know that help and support is available and they don't have to face mental health issues alone!
