Story
Last year I tragically lost someone through suicide. This was a person who I cared a lot about and someone who meant the world to me.
I am planning a charity tandem skydive which I have fully funded myself, so all monies raised will go directly to the charity below. The skydive is scheduled for the 28th of March 2021. This may get moved because of COVID, but I am aiming for it to still go ahead in 2021.
Through my voluntary work with the ambulance service, I was able to apply for and receive PTSD support from The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC). The charity has been very supportive towards me and has funded Specialist Trauma Therapy for me.
The therapy is supporting me in going back to my full time job as well as to start volunteering again in my role as a Community First Responder, supporting my local community by attending 999 calls to people in need.
TASC, The Ambulance Staff charity is the leading UK charity working to support current and retired Ambulance Services personnel and their families, regardless of role, to enhance their mental and physical well-being during times of need. They offer timely, tailored, often multi-stranded, support to individuals and families, helping them to improve their circumstances. Increasingly, people are turning to them for help with multiple and complex needs; in 2018 the average number of hours of support we gave to each beneficiary was 9.8 hours.
