Joel's Cycle Against Living Miserably: 36,500km in 365days

Cycle Against Living Miserably: 36,500km in 365days · 1 February 2021
On Saturday the 23rd of January 2021, I will embark on Cycle Against Living Miserably: 36,500km in 365 days. Which equates to 100km a day for a year which is a monumental challenge, with 100km taking between 2.5 and 4 hours of cycling each day. I will be completing the challenge between Zwift (indoor turbo) and the road. I work full time 8am-5pm, 5 days a week and this is fully self supported. The idea with this challenge is to search for limits, within this year I will cycle Lands End to John O'Groats and attempt to ride ultra distance.
Why?
Just over 5 years ago I was miserable and was in a place where I didn't let anyone in, or anyone to help. I was in a place where a charity like CALM would have helped massively or even a chat with friends. It's taken me this amount of time to come to terms with this period of my life, I feel happy to be able to admit that I've been through such a dark period and have come out the other side, but there are so many who don't. Unfortunately, this is often men under the age of 45!
Cycling has always brought me peace of mind which is why I've chosen a cycling challenge to help others. Cycling 100km a day is going to be a massive challenge not just physically but mentally and logistically. So I hope you can support me with sponsorship to raise money for this incredibly important charity. I want more men to feel they can talk and get help!
*I completed this on the 22nd of January 2022 with a final distance ridden of 36,516km in the 365 days* I'm not sure what has happened to the activity total on this page, there's been a mishap when I disconnected Strava.
Thanks Joel x
