ADRA Digital Annual Appeal 2020

5 days - No talking · 28 July 2020
Hi! My name is Joel.
I just wanted to ask you something. Can you imagine having £5 come in for your paycheck, when you was expecting 350? This year ADRA is going through a similar problem. They are struggling to raise the funds needed this year, and they need it to keep the charity helping people every day.
So, I have decided to LITERALLY, stop talking for 5 days, to raise funds for them. No 'hi', no 'bye' spoken, or anything in between; Started on the 28th of this month (...it's been tough). I mean, it's hard to go 1 hour without talking, and have mercy if it's a day... that was hard! But five days?😱 I think you get the point.
Why would I do that, beside the fact that they are really broke at the moment? It's because they are helping the disadvantaged around the world, and that's what their income is for. I'll let them fill you in on what they are doing in the UK.
Below is their appeal:
"In our society we believe in showing compassion to others by helping and protecting each other from harm. Yet, right now, especially due to the fallout of COVID-19, many are now living in poverty. Its not right that a fifth of our population live in want, that more and more people are relying on food banks and that unemployment continues to rise so rapidly. It is simply not right that we live in a society where so many are locked in poverty. In the UK we are working with 73 community hubs to eliminate poverty because it restricts peoples options and leaves them in impossible situations like having to choose between feeding their children or paying their rent. We are ensuring that the most vulnerable people in these communities are receiving food and essential hygiene supplies and that their wellbeing is cared for. From food banks to listening circles, food distribution centres to clothing banks, ADRA is enabling local people to support each other.Thank you. ADRA UK."
