Against Breast Cancer are working to prevent secondary breast cancer by funding unique research into the development of new treatments, including ultimately a vaccine; improving upon current blood tests; and assessing diet and lifestyle for factors that increase the risk of secondary breast cancer.

Story

It’s not easy to know what to say or do when someone close is diagnosed with cancer whether they may be a colleague, friend or close family. I found this possibly the hardest part when my Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple of years ago. It would be understated to say I felt somewhat helpless towards the pain it caused the whole family at the time. However luckily with the disease being caught in the early stages she was able to receive treatment successfully and was given the all clear later in the year.

Though others, including some of my closest friends, have not been as lucky as we have and unfortunately lost loved ones in their own battles with cancer. Whilst charitable causes like this will never reconcile such damage and suffering cancer can have to some, it may help a little to eventually bring a brighter future with better treatment, care, and possible cures to beat the disease!

On Sunday October the 3rd, I’ve been given an amazing opportunity and I will be running the London Marathon as part of the Against Breast Cancer Team. The charity funds pioneering research into new treatments, tools for earlier diagnosis and advice to reduce the risk of recurrence and secondary spread.

Your donations, no matter how big or small will all be worthwhile and greatly appreciated!

Thanks all :)
