The brain is the most complex organ in our body. It controls our emotions, senses and actions. So when it breaks down, we break down. We fund the best research to discover the causes, develop new treatments and improve the lives of those affected. Let’s unite to accelerate progress. Today.

Story

Thanks for visiting my Just Giving Page, where I’m raising money for Brain Research UK.

Two years ago my grandma’s progressive degenerative dementia got to the point where she needed to go into a home. We had 5 years of giving her care at home, but after a number of infections and incidents which left her in the hospital, we were strongly advised that the only real choice was providing 24 hour round the clock care.

Brain Research UK are at the core discovering the causes, developing new treatments and improve the lives of those affected by neurological conditions… So to help support this cause, I’m asking those who can, to help me fundraise for this incredible charity.

In return, I’ve been pounding the pavement, training to complete the London Marathon, 26.2 miles across/up/down/around London.

I’ve ran a half marathon before (13.1 miles), so this should be fine? Well… now I’ve been training, I now know it’s a different animal! Please dig deep to support me on Sunday Oct 3rd 2021 - see if you can see me on the BBC, I’ll be waving to anyone cheering me on!!

Did you know:

  • 1 in 8 deaths in the UK are due to dementia, and this number is growing because people are living longer.. it’s scary and the disease strips you of your independence.

Having seen first hand how this can easily affect anyone, especially a loved one, I want to do my part to help raise money for more research, which will help. If anyone can donate anything towards this charity I would be incredibly grateful. Thank you. Joe x
