Story

I am running the Great North Run on 7th September 2014, the day before my 42nd birthday, as it has been a life long ambition. I have run numerous long distance runs in my past but not for a long time. The Great North Run is one of the hardest road half marathons in the UK. I hope to finish the run in around 2 hours which is about 30 minutes over my personal best time set when I was 20!

I am running on behalf of the Friends of Astley Park as they support Astley Park school, a school for special needs children attended by my son, Isaac. They have given him so many opportunities and experiences which he would not get at a main stream school. He has progressed so much under their care.

They are currently trying to raise GB£15,000 to build a sensory room for the children. Many special needs children benefit from spending time in this kind of environment - stimulated by the different lights and sounds.

I really appreciate all that you can give - every penny counts.
