Story

The Lily Foundation is a charity particularly close to my heart as my nephew David has a rare type of mitochondrial disease. I am hoping to raise as much money as I can to help fund research in this area, and to support families affected by this condition.

This race was another event to fall foul of Covid - I was originally due to run the marathon in April 2020, and was in peak fitness in March 2020, when it was cancelled. My current fitness is not what it was... so I think this training will be more difficult than the pre-pandemic plan! The initial goal was to run sub-3 hours, but lockdown (and having a baby!) has changed that, so I'll see how close I can get! The race is on 12 September 2021 so my training has begun. Wish me luck!!

About The Lily Foundation:

Every day in the UK a child is born who will develop mitochondrial disease. This genetic condition has limited treatments and no cure. It is life limiting and can be debilitating. Those living with it face enormous challenges and it has taken too many lives. The Lily foundation want to change this and offer hope to families across the UK by offering support and funding important research. I'm running 26.2 miles for them so please donate if you can and help me, help them make a difference.
