I am planning on cycling to Wales and back in a day. As well as stretching myself physically (over 200 miles in under 24 hours without sleep), I want to take this opportunity to raise money for a charity I hold dearly to my heart, Weldmar Hospicecare, who have, and continue to, perform amazing work during a family’s hardest time. They are a Dorset charity providing specialist end of life care, which both my Father and Grandad depended on during their final few days.

Wales and back in a day is going to be the furthest I have ever cycled in one go, but I am looking forward to the challenge! We will be setting off at 8:30pm Friday from Poole (Dorset), to cycle through the night, (while we are most awake). Meeting a few others at Chepstow in Wales, to get a little bite to eat and then head back. The total trip will be over 200 miles, without sleep for myself. I expect to have just over 18 hours of saddle time.

I will be doing this event along side a few mates from my cycle club ECC (Elmer Cycle Club), some of whom will be doing the whole ride in one go with me. Others will be cycling up the day before, staying the night and then meeting us for the return journey.

Weldmar Hospicecare needs to raise £26,000 a day to continue the specialist end of life care we provide in Dorset, both in the comfort of patient's own homes and at our IPU in Dorchester. 20% of our costs are met by the NHS, the rest comes from the generosity of our local community.
