Story

Hello there,

First off, thanks. If you’re reading this, most likely you’ve generously decided to support my run for Unite Against Cancer. Every donation counts and I thank you for them.

I have never run a marathon before and at time of writing I’m probably the least fit I’ve ever been. Many of you will be familiar with me and know the discipline, determination and effort required to run 26.2 miles is not something I’m naturally blessed with. So this is something that will take a massive, lifestyle changing effort. Photographic evidence will be provided for the suspicious and curious.

The personal benefits to running a marathon are well known, selfishly this is a great chance to get into shape and improve my own life. However doing this event for a worthwhile charity increases the benefits to more than just myself. Unite Against Cancer was set up in memory of Christopher Smith, the younger brother of a friend, who tragically died from cancer at a young age. During his fight against cancer everything was attempted to help him and this sort of support has to improve and continue helping other people in their own battle.

Every penny donated goes to the charity which funds research on cancer treatments and diagnosis, raises awareness of new treatments and strives to do everything possible to help those afflicted by cancer. Work we can all agree saves lives.

I’d also like to make a special mention of my partner Cecilia Ho, who is also running the marathon. Without her I’d never have known of the charity or be attempting the marathon. So my participation is thanks to her.

All donations will make a difference. Even 1p will contribute to a larger goal so if that’s all you can give, thank you.
