I got the phone call in Summer 2017 from Penny Appeal with an invitation to join their team for the London Marathon 2018. I said YES! and I started off with a £5,000 Goal to help build water wells in the Gambia.
My family, friends and community got behind me and following a trip to The Gambia in December 2017 the donations started rolling in fast. Thank you to every one who has donated so far! Following some amazing events including a community 5k in the park, afternoon tea, a men's quiz night and a ladies dinner I extended my fundraising target to £12,000. We smashed it! And now we are heading for the 4th water well with a £16,000 target. WE ARE NEARLY THERE!
This will enable 4 water wells to be built in communities that have no access to water. Our mothers and young children are having to walk for miles in the heat to get to the nearest pumps and then carry home heavy water up to 30kg in total weight. Help me to change their lives.
