Up, Down and Dirty (15km) for St Margaret's Hospice

Up, Down and Dirty Treborough · 28 October 2018 ·
So, I have decided to sign myself up for a 15k run...in the cold...in the mud!! 😲
I want to do this to support and raise funds for St Margaret’s Hospice in Taunton as they cared for my Dad who sadly lost his battle with head and neck cancer in June 2018.
Dad was only 57 and before his 18 month battle with the big C, he was fit, healthy and full of life. He was always the life and soul of any party and would always be the first to arrive and the last to leave making everyone laugh along the way! He was a kind, loving and generous man that would do anything for anybody and will be missed by many.
I am also doing this run in memory of Jude Snell (my Auntie) who was just 56 and lost her battle with breast cancer 24 hours before Dad died.
The last few months have been awful for us all (especially for my mum) watching them suffer then slip away from us . The care at St Margaret's Hospice was outstanding and the support that they have given us as a family during this difficult time has been incredible.
I have found that running recreationally has really helped me to deal with the loss of Dad and to cope with day to day life again. This event is brand new and organised by St Margaret's Hospice themselves so I can put my new found love of running to good use whilst supporting and raising funds for this fabulous charity.
By sponsoring me, your donation (big or small) will support this wonderful local charity. Here is why your donation matters:
1 in 3 people in Somerset will need our support in their lifetime, your sponsorship will ensure your neighbour, your friend, and your family can be cared for when they need it most.
£25 sponsorship could pay for an adviceline nurse to support a patient during the middle of the night.
£50 sponsorship could pay for a patient to spend a day in our Sunflower Centre, meeting people in similar circumstances, receiving symptom control advice and providing crucial respite for carers.
£100 sponsorship could pay for a Specialist Community Nurse to visit a patient being cared for at home.
