Salutations Friend,
Give me your money! Sorry, that was rude. Please, give me your money!
I want to raise some money for a very good cause, I'm sure you'd all agree. An awesome little boy, who I care a hell of a lot about, is currently receiving treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia at Sheffield Children's Hospital. He was diagnosed 3 months ago, and it has obviously been a very traumatic time for him and all of his family; particularly his mum, dad and big sister. He has lost all of his hair and has basically become a human pin cushion these last few weeks. He has struggled a lot at times and there have been some very low moments; including a trip to intensive care for several nights. He has been a very brave kid, and he generally lets all of this bounce off him. Not literally of course; the injections and cannulas.. he needs those a lot.
Thankfully, he has just reached first remission; meaning there are around 5% cancerous cells left in him. The next 2 and half years will be about gradually killing all of those cells off.
I have, and continue to be very impressed by the Doctors, Nurses and staff I have encountered on Ward M3 at the Hospital. Their support, especially their kindness and patience, has not gone unnoticed with me. They are obviously very busy people but they always make time to ensure all of the children feel at home (as much as is possible), and try to make this whole experience slightly less crappy. They crack jokes, play games and care for the children in a way that really moves me.
I would like to raise as much as possible for the hospital so that more kids in the future continue to be supported in the same way. Also, to aid in the purchasing of more cool toys, gadgets and general equipment that makes the whole experience a bit more bearable for those children and their families.
My very good friend Lea has awesomely agreed to run the PlusNet Yorkshire Marathon with me in October. We have been running together for years now, and am looking forward to training and completing this challenge with him.
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We would be extremely grateful for any donation made. We promise that we will be working extremely hard to get ourselves ready for this race, so your donations will be well earned!
Thanks again, much love to all
