Story

In 2020, I spent a lot of time walking in my local community and managed to cover a total of 800 miles! This got me thinking...could I cover 1,000 miles in a year?

Well, in 2021, the year where I turn 81 years of age, I'll be doing exactly that, and I'll be looking to raise funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution along the way.

As a lifelong supporter of the RNLI, I've come to learn the importance of the emergency service they provide and how they provide support not just to people who live by the coast.

I'll be starting my challenge on the 1st February, which means I've got to cover 80-85 miles each month.....wish me luck, and please make a donation on my fundraising page, no matter how big or small.

Thank you.

A little bit about the charity I'm supporting.....

The nearest Lifeboat Station to the Midlands might be over 100 miles away, but with 87% of residents of the Midlands visiting the coast each year, you don't have to live by the sea to support the RNLI.

The RNLI has been operating at full capacity since the start of lockdown.

Our service has been rescuing people throughout the Coronavirus pandemic and our heroic crews commitment to saving lives has not stopped.

Unfortunately, our ability to raise funds has been limited. The coasts of Wales and North West England are popular tourist destinations for millions of holidaymakers from the Midlands and we want to keep those coasts a safe place for everyone to visit.

The average lifeboat station in Wales, North West England and Isle of Man costs £159,000 a year to run and we are going to have a significant shortfall in income due to the Coronavirus.

We are asking all our friends and communities to donate what they can to keep us running.

When you and your loved ones visit the coast, we will always be there to keep you safe, on our watch, there will be no preventable deaths on British coasts.

Please help us fulfil that mission.

Thank you.
