Story
In August 2014, my son Eric was born. Early tests suggested he might have had a hearing impairment, and we were recommended for further tests at The Elizabeth Foundation at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.
Fortunately, Eric does not have any hearing impairment as we later discovered. During our visits, we did learn through this process about the amazing work The Elizabeth Foundation does helping deaf babies, pre-school children and their families.
I signed up for the first time to run The Great South Run in 2014 during our visit to The Elizabeth Foundation, grateful for their support and wanting to help them in their work with local Portsmouth families.
I am proud to run this amazing event again in support of a charity which does so much work for local families. Thank you for your support!
More from The Elizabeth Foundation: “We thought that he would never be able to speak to us... Nor, more importantly, would he ever be able to hear us tell him we love him.” Parent of profoundly deaf little boy. The Elizabeth Foundation (TEF) helps deaf babies and pre school children learn to listen and speak. We are there to support and inform families from the moment their child is diagnosed with any degree of hearing loss. This year over 80 babies, toddlers and pre-school children will attend specialist education programmes and get individual speech and language therapy.
