Story
I will be running the 2013 Virgin London Marathon this year on behalf of an amazing local charity, United Against Cancer. The charity provides much needed support to Southend Hospital cancer unit and makes a real difference to the brave people and their families who are fighting this terrible disease. We have all been affected by cancer in our lives and so I hope you can give generously to the cause.
This will be a great personal challenge for me. I have never run a 10k, a half marathon, let alone 26.2 miles so training is proving tough. I am currently hobbling around the office with one leg wrapped in tape and "enjoying" weekly acupuncture sessions on my right shin; who said running was good for you? However, training is generally going well and I hope to finish the marathon…preferably in a time under 4 hours (3:59:59 would be perfect). Please feel free to mock me if I do not finish or get overtaken by a Disney character on the finishing line!
