Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

MASSIVE THANK YOU NHS

I have so much to thank the NHS for, they have saved my life on more than one occasion and apart from fairly normal things like appendix removal, kidney stones & two knee replacements they have been by my side for more serious ailments these past few years:

  • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (EVAR to repair my Aorta).
  • Schistosomiasis (Bilharzia) parasite treatment.
  • Sepsis Treatment.
  • Major Heart Attack (Triple By Pass) & post op Pneumonia ICU treatment.

On each occasion life threatening care & I am so grateful to the NHS for allowing me to be around to see the birth of my grandaughter and the marriage soon for one of my children.

Fast Forward to March 2020 when I contracted COVD19, after several tough weeks at home I was eventually admitted to Derriford Hospital, thankfully I got through the worst of it and was discharged…or so I thought!

I began to feel breathless, tired, fatigued and really unwell and so my battle with Long Covid started:

  • Unwell for months
  • Multiple Blood Clots in Left Lung
  • Enlarged Heart
  • Off work for 7 months
  • Lost my job due to sickness/absence

I eventually managed to battle through this illness and
ironically I was offered the role of Logistics Manager at the NHS COVID19 Laboratory in Plymouth & started my FIGHTBACK vs COVID19 in January this year.

I am so proud to say my Logistics Team @ the COVID Lab are willing to do the hard miles to achieve this MAMMOTH challenge. The general public should be so grateful to this dedicated team who process 30,000 samples every day and I am so lucky to work alongside such dedicated & professional people!

The commitment for this challenge is also remarkable considering that apart from myself all my team are Agency Staff and it speaks volumes for the esteem & regard we all have and hold for the National Health Service.

Now is the time to payback the NHS frontline who cared for me so well during my illnesses and this event had to be a mammoth event to repay the NHS in some small way!

I would be so grateful if you could donate to this really worthwhile cause and be assured your donations will go straight to the frontline to fight COVID19.

Thank you so much NHS!

John
