Trekking the Simien Range of Ethiopa · 8 November 2019

We are the UK's leading charity providing financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served and are currently serving in the British Armed Forces and their dependents.

Story

In November 2019, 84-year-old John Green will be tackling a challenging trek through the highlands of Ethiopia with a group of walkers led by Rebecca Stephens MBE, the first British woman to climb Everest and the Seven Summits.

John is raising money for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. He will trek to Lake Tana and the Blue Nile Falls before climbing mountains in the Simien range, mostly between 10,000 - 12,000 feet. The main challenge will be to reach the summit of Ras Dashen at nearly 15,000 feet, the highest in Ethiopia.

John is the Chairman of the Henley and Peppard Branch of the Royal British Legion.
