Campaign by Marie Curie (RCN 207994 (England & Wales) and SC038731 (Scotland))
You can support Marie Curie this Christmas and help our nurses continue to care for dying people. With a virtual collection you can raise money to help people in need without even leaving your home.

Story

John Kane sadly passed away after a short battle with mesothelioma, an aggressive and rare type of lung cancer caused by exposure to asbestos as a young man training to be a heating engineer. Diagnosed just as the whole world went into lockdown, the past months have been a complete haze of shielding, social distancing, chemo and hospital stays with no visitors allowed. No day trips. No ticking off the bucket list. We had a few short weeks with him at home in bed before he died. We really have no words to describe how utterly devastating it is to come out of the other side without him.

Covid-19 has changed our all of our lives in many ways and Marie Curie's Summer collections have been put on hold as volunteers are currently unable to collect on the streets, in shops and public places. During this unsettling time, it's critical that Marie Curie Nurses continue to provide care to families in need as unfortunately there was no availability in dad's last days and hours due to the pressure currently on essential services and charitable organisations like Marie Curie.

We've experienced first hand that the right care means everything to families living with a terminal illness. Thanks to supporters like you, and in John's memory, Marie Curie can be there for more families. Your donation will help support people living with a terminal illness across the UK. Thank you.
