I have had the privilege of working for theGKexperience for 10 years.  

In that time I have met some of the most amazing young people across Glasgow, who haven't had the same opportunities to succeed as others, have been held back due to systemic inequality and social injustice. 

What?

We are raising money for our summer programme of activities, which includes: 

• A fully funded 'first time abroad on holiday' trip to Italy
• A 4 day Mountain Biking trip to Cairngorms
• A 4 day camping trip taking in Glen Coe and Mallaig, with Sea Kayaking experience
• A 5 day trip to the off grid Camas Centre on the Isle of Mull

Why?

School holidays are a stressful time for young people and their families because of the increased costs of food, heat and light, as well as the need to have things to do, due to not being in school.  We recognise this and provide these life changing opportunities for young people that not only helps families with financial burden but builds confidence and character in young people and allows them to try new things, develop skills, meet new people, reducing isolation and increasing mental and physical health.

Since our inception in 2012, we have supported and improved the lives of over 500 young people across Glasgow.  We currently support around 120 young people and 80 families.  Young people grow in confidence, make friends, learn new skills, improve mental and physical health and have fun when involved with us.  We provide what support they need and build long-term relationships to make the biggest differences. We collaborate with schools, social work and other organisations to ensure that young people are listened to and receive the best outcomes. 

Young people stay involved with GK for years, with many of them now grown up, with jobs or at university and volunteering their time back with us to support the next generation coming through. 

Young people can make their aspirations a reality, when involved with theGKexperience.
