When a young lady approaches you with a challenge to run a half marathon (even when it is your daughter), the smart thing to do is smile and politely decline. However, being unable to resist a challenge I accepted which is why I now find myself pounding the roads of North Lincolnshire trying to prepare my body to run further than it ever has before. I will run my first half marathon on October 7th, 2012 in the Royal Parks Half Marathon in London.

          I finished runner 1689 out of 11,374 finishers.

 

To make my run worthwhile I will be running my first half marathon on behalf of the Children's Heart Federation - supporting children with congenital heart disease and their families.

* £670 would cover the cost of purchase of medical equipment for a heart child and training for the family to use it, dramatically reducing the number of visits that the child needs to make to hospital.
