Glasgow - Everest Base Camp 2022 · 31 August 2022 to 15 September 2022 ·
This year I've decided to set myself an ambitious goal. I'll be taking part in the Everest Base Camp Trek in aid of WWF. I'll be undertaking this challenging 11-day trek through the Nepal Himalaya to reach the iconic Everest Base Camp at 5,645m!My challenge will support WWF, who are the world's leading independent conservation organisation with the mission to create a world where people and wildlife can thrive together. I'm supporting WWF because we are the first generation that knows we are destroying the world and the last that can do anything about it. Our planet is suffering but together we can make a difference and fight for our world. That is why any donation big or small, sharing my fundraising page, or even just spreading awareness of WWF is hugely appreciated! Thank you for all your support. If you'd like to find out any more information or join the fight for our world please visit https://www.wwf.org.uk/
I have decided to add challenges to my fundraiser, below are my targets and the challenge I will do when I reach it.
£500 - Winner of panda guess fundraiser decides
£1000 - Run distance of marathon (26.2 miles)
£1500 - Full body wax
£2000 - Three day silence
£2500 - Paintball try not to laugh
£3000 - TBD
£3390 - Dye my hair (Facebook poll on colour)
On November 1st, I shaved my beard as a way to raise attention to my fundraising challenge and to show an example challenge if I reach a certain amount by a deadline.
On November 5th, the team got together outside the library for our first fundraising event which was a bake sale which was a massive success! I made two loafs of my signature banana bread which sold very well despite it not having the best presentation.
On November 19th, the team gathered outside the QMU to have a second bake sale. With the difference in location, we were unable to get as much traffic as we did outside the library, however the fundraiser was once again a huge success! I once again made two loafs of my signature banana bread, however this time made it more presentable and it sold out just as well as it did the previous sale!
For the entirety of November I was able to stay off alcohol. This was a challenge to push myself, for dieting reasons and to give my liver a break. I can promise that the hangover on the 1st of December was the worst I ever had.
For a late veganuary, I tried to stay vegan for a whole month. While I did fail unfortunately, I still went for a very strong portion of it to try stay off unhealthy food!
On the 12th of February I cycled the width of Scotland, from Balloch to Falkirk via the canal, which was a huge achievement as I am not a strong cyclist!
From the 7th to 13th of March I walked the entire west highland way, which was from Milngavie to Fort William and is roughly 96 miles!
On the 3rd of April I ran the Manchester therme marathon a whole 26.2 miles and my legs are now dead after it!
