Story
The Tour De Yorkshire is the major fundraiser event for the April Fools Club in 2022 www.aprilfoolsclub.co.uk
A team of AFC riders of all ability levels are aiming to raise a total of £50,000 for the RAF Benevolent fund by undertaking a gruelling 2 day ride covering over 170 miles from York to Scarborough riding much of the famous “Tour De Yorkshire” route.
This ride is super challenging and not for the faint hearted and each rider has put in hours of personal training (and suffering) so please give generously for this amazing cause and help us achieve our goal.
Also our effort is supported by Debbie Unsworth, An RAF Air Cadet instructor. Debbie is overcoming her fear of flying by wing walking at Leeds Bradford Airport on September 17th.
2022 is proving to be one of the toughest years for the RAF Family yet. Due to rising inflation and increased costs of living, more than one in four (over 180,000) RAF veterans are finding themselves in financial distress, having to make the difficult decisions between the bare essentials of food, electricity and in some cases, rent. As a result, in the first six months of this year, we the RAF Benevolent Fund have seen a 20% increase in demand for our help and already awarded over £1.8M in financial assistance, 25% more in 2021.
The funds raised by The April Fools’ Club will provide those most in need with financial security, peace of mind and the dignity they deserve.
