We provide opportunities and support to improve the lives of inner city children

Story

...helping those who live in difficult circumstances and pushing our own personal limitations.

For Steve, this very difficult challenge is in memory of his best friend Darren, who recently lost his battle with Cancer.

For me, although seriously challenged by cancer within my whole family, this is an opportunity for me to combine 2 of my passions - climbing mountains and working to eradicate child poverty in the UK.

free@last is a children's charity that I began 20 years ago, to improve the lives of the children and young people of Nechells, Birmingham. We struggle to understand why it seems acceptable in British society to allow children in our land to live in poverty, but in our community 53% of the children do. Extreme problems, like this, require extreme solutions. Our strategy is extreme but all we need is the money to implement it!

This extreme challenge is not just a personal challenge, but to show that any extreme problems can be overcome.

We will not be alone on the mountain, with expert guides and porters to help, and just like the physical help that we need to succeed, we need your financial support to help us achieve too, so please help us reach our summits. Thank you so very much.
