Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Am proud to have the opportunity to do this jump for such a amazing charity that is very close to our hearts , the sick children's trust at Crawford house newcastle RVI and Scott House at the freeman . Crawford house gave us a room in thier amazing building on the hospital grounds we only thought it would be for a couple nights but that wasn't the case on our journey .Our precious baby girl was born 14-3-2013 by emergency c-section , she was so beautiful, curly black hair ,long arms and legs with long piano fingers . She was crying before she came out our beautiful 5lb 8 baby girl was here but our world came crashing down ammia was born with exomphalos major ( her internal organs were growing on the outside of her tummy) a thin skin membrane that surrounded it ruptured on delivery and was immediately rushed to theatres 9 hours later we were told the news Jo parent wants to hear . Hours turned to in days, days turned to weeks . 4 weeks later ammia was not gaining any weight and the docs from the free cardiology came over from the freeman and confirmed she had multiple as and vsds( holes in her heart ) at this point weeks were Turing in to months with double figure operations , in and out of theatres , intensive care . At 6 months old ammia was still ventilated then a massive decision came to get her home and properly start our family she would have to have a tracheostomy with home portable ventilation and oxygen . At 11 months and 2 weeks and lots of training from the great staff at the rvi and freeman we struggled but we made it we were home but unfortunately ammia ended up back in the freeman having open heart surgery this was a total shock to say the least . A operation had complications and ammia ended up on a echmo machine which is attached to your heart though your chest keeping your heart going and keeping her alive . All the time we had the great team at the sick children's trust supporting us mentally and a place to stay close to our little girl . Slowly after weeks she pulled though and again we were home . This story may same long to you when reading but it's only have of it . Basically what we are saying and asking for is if you can find it in your hearts to donate to this fantastic amazing charity which with out would have made the worse time of our lives impossible we would be forever grateful. . Over the last 9 years the sick children's trust staff and Andrew the house manager have been truly amazing from the warm safe place to lay your head the kitchen to make your meals or for that 5 minutes time just to listen to you with a shoulder to cry on . This charity go unnoticed until some one needs them they have houses up and down the country at most major children's hospitals with out NHS or government funding. £30 a night is what it costs the charity to house 1 family we lived there for 11.5 months and they never asked for a penny . That locked door when you needed to cry alone or warm shower to help you pull your self around means nothing when thing are good but can make all the difference when things are going wrong in your whole world . . At 2am when you get that call from the intensive care staff saying get here now and because of the SCT you are only 2 mins from the ward gives you piece of mind like you can't imagine. . Please can you help us to help this amazing charity to help thousands more family from around the world.

Thank you for all your support. Melanie ,johnathan and ammia .
