We provide life-saving treatment to men in suicidal crisis.

Story

Thanks for taking time to visit my page.

Did you know that in East Anglia alone there are 5 suicides and attempts every day? Imagine how many families and friends that affects. Suicide is the biggest killer for men under the age of 45, who are also 3 times more likely to attempt or commit suicide than women. It is a growing issue that needs to be quickly understood. With your money, you will change so much for the better, you could save a life.

I'll be running the Great North Run on September 10th (which is also World Suicide Prevention day) for the James Wentworth-Stanley Memorial Fund, dedicated to raising awareness of suicide amongst young persons, funding research and promoting education to better understand the causes of depression and suicide.

The issue is one of which I am unfortunately too familiar with. Whilst at secondary school we were touched by 4 suicides, the most recent being last summer. I believe that, in school the education of suicide should be as frequent and as widespread as sex, drugs and alcohol as it would greatly increase understanding for both students and parents/teachers.

Our mission is to stop men dying by suicide and we believe death by suicide is preventable. Yet, in the UK suicide is still the single leading cause of death of men under 50. At James’ Place, we provide proven, professional therapy for men in suicidal crisis to help them find hope for the future.
