TCS New York City Marathon 2019 · 3 November 2019 ·

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Me and my little helper Andy are having a go at 3 marathons in 3 weeks - to raise 3,000 for 3 great charities - finishing in New York City - for Teenage Cancer Trust.

My son Andrew died from cancer shortly before his 16th birthday in 2003. A biopsy on his spinal column left him paralysed, and in need of constant care. There were no specialist care centres in Scotland at that time for teenagers and young adults with cancer, so we looked after Andrew at home for a year until he passed away, surrounded by his family.

Teenage Cancer Trust now provides that specialist hospital care in Scotland and throughout the UK, and my family has been raising funds for the charity since 2003 in memory of Andrew. Please help me to help them continue their amazing work by sponsoring my latest over-ambitious challenge. I am paying all costs of the trip, so 100% of the money raised goes straight to the charity.
