We‘re the world‘s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving and improving lives through research. We fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.

Story

On the 19th April 2010 my Dad, Roger Hart, passed away.  He had been battling Cancer for several months.  We will miss him more than words can say!

One of my Dads aims was to cycle the Trent and Mersey Canal from Preston Brook (Runcorn) back to our home village of Shardlow, a distance of 95 miles!  He never got to do this so on the weekend of 18th - 20th June 2010 we will be making this trip in his honour.

My wife, Louise, and myself will be joined by a bunch around 15 crazy mates and we are using the event to raise money for 2 charities that have become incredibly important to my family and me.  The care my Dad received during his illness was nothing short of amazing and I am using this opportunity to recognise this and pay a huge tribute to my Dad.

We will be raising money for Cancer Research and Macmillan Cancer Support. All online donations that we receive will go to Cancer Research UK and any donations made in person will go to MacMillan nurses to help them continue their fantastic work. We are hoping to raise over £3000 between us, so any amount that you can contribute will be greatly appreciated.

This is the first time I have done anything like this although I suspect it will not be the last.  Please sponsor us on this trip by donating generously to these worth causes.

I will be launching a facebook page shortly that will contain all the information on the trip.  You can keep in touch with our efforts this way.

Kindest regards

John Hart
