Story
This page is in memory of John Kay, a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and colleague, who recently peacefully passed away.
John was diagnosed with inoperable Pancreatic Cancer in late 2020, and despite treatment sadly passed away on 23rd January 2021.
Pancreatic cancer is incredibly hard to detect until it is sadly too late, and so research into detection and treatment is vital to hopefully help others with this disease.
The Pancreatic Cancer UK Early Diagnosis Research Alliance is one of the biggest investments in early diagnosis within pancreatic cancer in the UK. By sharing information and knowledge and coordinating efforts, some of the UK’s leading researchers are working together to develop and implement a simple test that doctors can use to diagnose people earlier and save lives.
This pioneering research is close to the biggest and most exciting breakthrough we’ve ever seen – the first effective test to detect pancreatic cancer in the blood. Preliminary results show that the test is currently getting greater than 95% accuracy in early trials, meaning we are one step closer to improving one of biggest challenges in pancreatic cancer research and ultimately, saving more lives.
We would be so grateful for any donations to this research, in memory of an incredible man who touched and helped so many lives.
Thank you
