I am cycling from Holme Hall, a Sue Ryder Care neurological Home in East Yorkshire, to Sue Ryder Domov in Prague in the Czech republic. I am being accompanied by my partner Juliet Molteno, and we are funding the trip and making all the arrangements ourselves. We think the total distance will be about 750 - 800 miles, and the trip will take just under two weeks, starting on the 14th of September 2007.
I am doing this to raise money for the Sue Ryder Foundation in Malawi, part of the worldwide family of Sue Ryder charities. The work of the charity is largely in the treatment of epilepsy and asthma, diseases which are often very easy to treat, provided there is access to the right drugs and the skilled people to prescribe and administer them. Without the drugs, or the skills these diseases can be crippling. Sue Ryder Foundation in Malawi is the only source of treatment for asthma and epiliepsy in large parts of the country; they already trreat around 10,000 people a year, with your help they can treat many more.
The sums they need are small, but the funds go a long way. Every penny you donate will go to the charity, and if you agree to gift aid the chancellor will add 28p for every pound.
I have asthma, for me it is a minor inconvenience, if I had been born in rural Malawi I would rely on the help of charities like Sue Ryder Foundation in Malawi for the simple treatments I take for granted as a citizen of the UK.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sue Ryder Care will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
