OFF WITH HIS HAIR!!!
After six or so long years without a haircut… the time has come to shear off this Curly Wild Fro. And so I’ve decided to cut it for Charity (GOSHCC, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity). The reason I’ve chosen ‘Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity’ is because my sister Alice was treated there as an infant and she received the very best care, as did all the children who our family met on the Orthopaedic Ward. I am very grateful to the hospital and proud of my big sister’s strength and courage.
GOSH still engages in pioneering work in children's medicine with over 150,000 children treated at Great Ormond Street Hospital every year. From a few pence to a couple of pounds, whatever you can scrape together, will be much appreciated & go a long way to help re-build young lives.
“The hospital has relied on charitable support since it first opened. One of the main sources for this support is Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (GOSHCC). Whilst the NHS meets the day to day running costs of the hospital, the fundraising income allows Great Ormond Street Hospital to remain at the forefront of child healthcare. GOSHCC is now trying to raise over £170 million to complete the next phase of redevelopment, as well as provide substantially more fundraising directly for research. The charity also purchases up-to-date equipment, and provides accommodation for families and staff.”
I will be donating the bundles of Curly hair to ‘Cancer Help UK’ so they can make a wig or two!
“Human hair wigs are also very expensive. They can cost anywhere between £200 and £2000, compared to a synthetic wig, which costs between £50 and £200. Many people cannot afford real hair wigs, especially when they are only going to be wearing it for a few months - until their own hair starts to grow back. Not only that: you actually need 2 wigs, so that you have one to wear while the other is being cleaned. Human hair wigs need to be cleaned regularly and this is a specialized process that takes time.”
Now cough up for the Kids!
(I will be cutting off my Hair on Saturday 23rd July)
Thank you in advance for any donations made.
