Tushinde Children's Trust supports vulnerable children in Nairobi's informal settlements. These children have often lost one or both of their parents to HIV & are being brought up by kinship carers. In response, Tushinde runs the Family Support Programme; that nurtures and strengthens families.

Story

Apparently not being one to put his feet up and embrace retirement, John has recently taken on the role of fundraiser and general provider of wise words and sage advice to Tushinde Children's Trust. Tushinde provide case-by-case support to families living in extreme poverty in the Mathare slums of Nairobi, Kenya. Tushinde is now well established in Mathare and amongst other things sponsors children who would not otherwise be able to attend school, assists families in becoming financially independent and accessing medical care, and runs a daycare centre. This is vital work in a community where there is no social welfare safety net for very vulnerable children & families. For more about Tushinde's projects see http://tushinde.org.uk/.

Being a selfless sort of fellow (and already the owner of multiple pairs of Crocs, so no need really for any further birthday presents) we think John would be tickled if instead of buying him a birthday gift his nearest & dearest would make a donation of any size to Tushinde. And your donations will have the added benefit of making his fundraising role slightly easier for a while...what more could he want?
