Please help me to alleviate suffering and distress in one of the poorest places in the world, Sierra Leone.

The UN declared Sierra Leone as the poorest country on the planet in Jan 2008. 1 in 4 children die before the age of 5 from preventable diseases. Sierra Leone suffered a long and brutal civil war. The infrastructure collapsed, homes were burnt and children were left orphaned. There is no free health care and children above 11 years have to pay for all education. The Sierra Leone Poverty Relief charity pays for essential medical care, sponsors children and orphans to go to school, and helps to alleviate distress and poverty.

Last year's sponsored swim enabled the Charity to pay for 55 village children to go to school, pay for essential medical care and much, much more.

.No amount is too little or too large

eg.   approximately £50 pays for the education of a child for a year and £1.00 pays for one night in hospital for a child; so every pound counts.
