John Leslie Sheppard passed away on Boxing Day at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, following a short period of illness. 

A retired teacher, he was Head of Geography at Mexborough Grammar School & Headmaster at Adwick School.

Well known within rugby circles, he will be missed both on touchlines & in committee rooms across Yorkshire. Shortly before his death, he was pleased to have been made a Privilege Patron of the County, in recognition of his exceptional contribution to Yorkshire Rugby. 

Shep leaves his wife Hilary, children Rebecca, Ben & Emma & three grandsons who were privileged to share in his life & who will miss his sense of humour, optimism & appetite for life.
