Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

My daughter Annaliese and I have invited some of my longest standing friends, to join us in the challenge of summiting the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro on my 50th birthday.

Why are we doing this instead of partying?

Anni lost her brother and sister to long term degenerative conditions at the ages of 12 and 18 respectively. We aim to celebrate their lives by making this trek with a dozen or so great friends and colleagues, some of whom knew Jack & Jordie well and supported us through some tough times, and some who are newer friends but no less important as we continue our lives.

During those years, two organisations in particular were consistently a support to our family and to Jack & Jordie themselves. They are Iain Rennie, and Helen & Douglas House, who provided respite care, either in the home or to give the family an occasional break.

Typically, the amount of care that can be provided is directly attributable to funds available to these organisations, and for this reason we will be taking on the challenge.

My extremely generous team of fellow climbers are all also digging deep. This challenge, a significant cost, is being completely funded from their own pockets.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
