John was a gentle unassuming soul and he was absolutely upbeat throughout the last six years when he fought more 'health' battles than most of us will ever face in a lifetime.
His courage was phenomenal, many people face adversities in life and I have never ever met anyone who faced them so head on and as positively as John did. He never complained,  he never ever said, 'Why me',  and he was a real gentleman to the end.  His thoughts were always for his family and friends, right up to his death which he faced with a quiet dignity that was so humbling. Although physically he did not appear his time was near, in hindsight  I believe John suspected it.  53 years is too young, far, far too young to die, he had so much left to give.
