Story
On the 15th September I will attempt to swim the length of Loch Lomond (21.6 miles). This wasn't a last minute decision inspired by the Olympics but has been a 2 year build up, completing Lake Windermere last year and swimming up to 70 km/week in training.
The first person to swim Loch Lomond was Gerald Forsberg in 1959, since then only 50 people have completed the challenge. Gerald noted '...the swim is fractionally harder than the Channel. Water is less buoyant; air and water temperature are less...'. Having said that I will be wearing a wetsuit (sorry BLDSA!)
My chosen charity is Winston's Wish for bereaved children. They do a fantastic job and your donation will help young people to make the best of their lives. It will also spur me on to complete the 35,000 strokes required! By my calculations every 18 strokes is another £1 in the bank to reach our target of £2000.
