The Stroke Association - Valentines Firewalk · 12 February 2012 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In September 2010 I had a stroke.  A proper big one.  I was out of action for a few months but amazingly made a complete recovery, the brain damage that I suffered is in a bit of my brain I don't use ("that's not hard" I hear you say!).  Joking apart, I am lucky to be alive let alone typing this story or doing a fire walk.  Others are not so lucky though and I know all too well that strokes can affect anyone at any age; its not just the old or unfit (I was 39 and had just done a fast Olympic Triathlon a couple of weeks earlier).  Some victims will need the additional help and support that kit can provide, or support groups can offer.  For that reason I hope to raise as much cash as I can- please be generous!
