In memory of Jo MacLeod-Brudenell

Tamsin Bowers-Brown is raising money for Parkinson’s UK
In memory of Jo Macleod-Brudenell
Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Jo MacLeod-Brudenell passed away on the 30th April 2022 after a few months in hospital. We are devastated to have lost a very special woman who lived her life with compassion, a strong sense of wanting to support others and who did her best to make the most of her life and to encourage those around her to do the same. Jo was an educator, an artist, a socialist. A principled woman who loved and was loved, a compassionate human who spread her values and love to so many. Our beloved wife, mum, granny and sister, she will be missed beyond words.

Our family will hold a party for Jo, to celebrate her life, at a time yet to be agreed. In accordance with Jo's wishes she will be cremated without ceremony. However, we wanted to share some of our memories of Jo and hoped that you might also want to do so. These memories will help us develop a eulogy.

Above all we remember Jo's love for her family and friends. She was  a principled, witty, creative person who sought the most from life both for herself and others.

Jo's family were the most important part of her life, she loved us all and we loved her. She created a beautiful family, our love for her and for each other runs deep.

Jo was a socialist, principled and firm in her beliefs; she cared deeply about how people should be treated. Dignity, integrity and equity were central to her philosophy of life and she did not suffer fools gladly, always willing to challenge and stand up against injustice.

Jo's wit was infectious, she loved to laugh. Her sense of humour came through many aspects of her life and work, her dry and clever take on life were seen in her drama, her art work as well as in her banter and relationships with family and friends.

Jo was a creative, she had creativity in abundance, and it shone through all aspects of her life.  As an artist for sure, but also in her sense of style and her spontaneity to try things out.

Jo was positive and vivacious and this spirit came through in her approach to life, lifting us up, and helping us to thrive; she loved to dance and sing and we have many memories of such times.

Jo was an encourager, both to her family but also to the children and families with whom she worked. Jo recognised that everyone has talent and something to offer, and she nurtured that.

Jo was adventurous, she and Iain were able to travel in their retirement and they certainly made the most of whatever thrill-seeking opportunities were thrown their way.

Jo was a wonderful granny, much loved by her grandchildren Patrick, Ellie, George, Flora, William and Jacob also loved by her husband Iain and her children Candida, Rory, Tamsin and Eva.

Jo was loved and will be missed immensely.
