Guts UK is the charity for the digestive system. Our guts have been underfunded, understaffed & undervalued for decades. Guts UK’s work leads to earlier diagnoses, kinder treatments & ultimately, a cure, through funding research, raising awareness, and providing information.

Story

After taking part in a few sprint and olympic distance triathlons, I stepped up and registered to Ironman UK over a year ago.  The race will take place on August 4th 2013 and for those of you that don't know it involves a 2.4mile swim, a 112 mile cycle and then immediately followed by a full 26.2 mile marathon, all of which needs to be completed within 17 hours from crossing the start.

I have decided to take this opportunity to dedicate my race in memory of my niece Jess Samways, to raise money for CORE, a charity who are raising awareness and funding into pancreatic, gut and liver disease.

Training started back in January and unsurprisingly has been very tough. Despite recent illnesses and injuries, I am still aiming to complete the whole event well within the cut-off time of 17 hours.

Please donate as much or as little as you can, it will all be really appreciated and will go a long way to help CORE continue their great work.

Thanks, Jon.
