London to Brighton Bike Ride June 2022 · 19 June 2022 ·

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

In 1988, 34 years ago, I had open heart surgery. It didn't bother me much at the time (the recent footballing events of the crazy gang beating the culture club had perhaps taken the edge off living). However, I now appreciate fully what I went through and the amazing people who cared for me. Indeed, there is no evidence on an MRI scan that I had heart surgery (a section of my Aorta was removed but apparently there was enough 'slack').

In my younger years, I ran the London Marathon twice to raise money for the BHF. However, my Marathon days are probably over and I am planning a cycle from London to Brighton as a more realistic alternative.

I very much appreciate any donations to support the work of the BHF and their research into heart and circulatory diseases.
