Going Sober for October to Save a Mind in memory of Sami Kearsey · 1 October 2017

In Amy’s memory, we work to inspire children and young people to build their self-esteem and resilience, so they can flourish.

Story

Hello, thank you for visiting my page.

This month I will be going sober for October to help raise awareness of Mental Health issues in memory of Sammi Kearsey.

Sammi tragically took her own life in 2016 after years of battling with severe anxiety and depression and alcohol abuse. She was only 29 years old and had her whole life ahead of her.

Mental health issues are extremely common however, there is still a lot of stigma associated with it.

Sammi's family are now campaigning for more to be done in these situations. They are calling for a national database to be set up, to help police forces and medical services to care better for people with mental health issues.

‘One of the failings as a family we feel strongly about is that we have a national database for the health of our vehicles but we don’t have a database for the health of our people.

To not have a database in this day and age is deplorable. How many people does it take and how many attempted suicides before somebody is sectioned?' - Jon Kearsey.

I want to raise as much money as possible for the Save a Mind foundation which will go towards supporting the Amy Winehouse Trust which works to prevent the effects of drug and alcohol misuse on young people so I would be so grateful for any donations to help support this cause.
