Sahara Desert Trek · 15 October 2022

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity operates and funds three air ambulances and a fleet of critical care cars covering Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands. This lifesaving service costs £20 million each year and is funded by donations only.

Story

Jon Sharrock and Geoff Philips (AKA Ferret) are this year for their challenge walk heading off on a fully self-funded trip to trek across part of the Sahara Desert to raise much needed funds for the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

The trek will take place between the 15th and 22nd October walking from Ouarzazate back towards Marrakesh, it’s going to be a hard slog walking through dried out river beds, camel trail paths and sand dunes sleeping in Bedouin style camps along the way.

The walk, all kit and any training walks are all fully self-funded so every penny donated will go to the air ambulance, it costs an average of £3,000 per flight so we are targeting to achieve at least one flight with our walk.

We know times are hard and appreciate any amount you can donate to such a great cause, remember if eligible to tick the box for gift aid to add 25% extra to the amount given free of charge to yourselves.

Thank you so much, Jon and Geoff
